Install A Garden At Columbia Middle School

Partners in Action for Healthy Living is installing a new school garden at Columbia Middle School. Join Partners in Action in installing a new learning garden that will benefit the students through hands on learning in the garden.The garden will not only serve as a learning garden, but it will create healthier communities by inspiring young people, parents and community members to grow food for healthier bodies and to increase food security. Volunteers will need to bring a reusable water bottle, wear closed in shoes, long pants and a sun hat.
Fish And Aquatic Life Survey Assistant

Are you interested in a career in field biology, or just want to learn more about the inhabitants of Atlanta's urban creeks? This volunteer opportunity is a unique, fun, and educational way to experience a nature preserve. Each Spring and Fall at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve, a Fish and Aquatic Life Survey is conducted in both of the creeks that flow through the Preserve. Led by a fish research scientist, walk through the creek with nets to catch fish and record their length and health status. Be prepared to get wet and touch fish. You should bring water shoes, or shoes you don't mind walking in the creek in, a change of clothes, a towel, sun screen, bug spray, a refillable water bottle, snacks.
Meeting And Orientation For Guest Assistant Role-food Distribution Ministry

Southwest Ecumenical Emergency Assistance Center (SWEEAC) serves more than 48,000 families & distributes over 1,000,000 pounds of food to the families in Atlanta. Volunteers will include set up and breakdown of distribution area, unpacking and organizing food to be distributed and bagging or boxing of food for recipients and assist recipients to their vehicle or help them carry food.
Prepping Superhero Capes With Hands On Atlanta

At Hands On Atlanta, we tackle greater Atlanta's most pressing needs by igniting a passion for service and creating life-long community volunteers. In preparation for an upcoming event, we are looking for the help of volunteers to help us cut out felt superhero capes to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This task will include tracing a template and cutting fabric to given specifications. Court ordered volunteers are permitted to serve.
Incommunity 2019 Spring Benefit Gala

InCommunity partners to enrich and sustain the lives of individuals who have developmental disabilities, their families, and their communities. The Gala will feature a Silent Auction, Dinner, Live Auction and Entertainment. Volunteers will be serving as “runners” and their help will be most needed during event check in and check out. This volunteer opportunity is part of Hands On Atlanta's Civic Leadership Program and is led by a trained Civic Fellow. The Civic Leadership Program transforms volunteer leaders into civic leaders while also supporting the needs of nonprofits.
