Hands On Atlanta is partnering with the Chomp & Stomp, Cabbagetown's annual festival benefitting the neighborhood's parks, green spaces and community center! Proceeds from the Chomp and Stomp festival benefit the parks and public spaces in historic and diverse Cabbagetown, Atlanta’s first Landmark Historic District. The festival is 100% volunteer managed and run. Volunteers will be working at welcome centers, which sell chili spoons (“ticket” to festival) and tokens for beer and mixed drinks.

oakhurst Garden and wylde woods fall cleanup

Saturday, November 2 From 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Decatur)

Wylde Center's mission is to educate, cultivate greenspaces and build community in the areas we serve. Wylde Center accomplishes this through educational programs, events and greenspaces that actively engage youth, families and individuals in their environment, health and community, and that develop skills in environmental science, sustainable urban living, organic gardening, health, and nutrition. Oakhurst (our flagship garden) and the Wylde Woods is in need of repairs and preparation for the winter months. Volunteer tasks include mulching walkways throughout our garden, cleaning/weeding Children’s Garden, rebuilding community plots and more!

teamworks! kickoff

Saturday, November 2 From 9:45 AM - 12:00 PM (Decatur)

Hands On Atlanta TeamWorks! is a program that betters metro-Atlanta through meaningful service projects. It’s a program that affords you the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others and our communities, and to develop friendships with your fellow volunteers along the way. It’s an opportunity to challenge yourself and get involved! Kick-off is the first meeting of every round. It is an orientation - a chance for volunteers to meet, form teams, and learn about the projects planned for that round. We are switching up this round and adding a mini-service project that will benefit one of our nonprofit partners.

Discovery Program at Clay Elementary

Wednesday, October 30 From 9:45 AM - 11:45 AM (Mableton)

The Hands On Atlanta Discovery program is a volunteer-led Saturday tutoring and enrichment program. The two-hour session occurs twice a month from 10am to 12pm. The program reinforces weekday learning through academic assistance, educational games, field trips, service-learning projects, and other enrichment activities. Students are engaged in a variety of subjects depending on the needs of their particular schools. Our goal is to have a one-on-one volunteer to student ratio, allowing for individualized attention and the building of relationships between students and volunteers.
