ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

PROTECT + PRESERVE OUR GREEN SPACES

Atlanta, the City in the Forest, is home to 447 local parks and dozens of nature centers, urban farms, and other greenspaces. Learn how you can protect and steward these natural environments to ensure all community members can live healthy lives.

the problem

In addition, nearly 25% of Atlanta residents are without easy access to local parks and greenspaces, and there are neighborhoods and communities which face disproportionate negative environmental effects of our human behavior. We find this unacceptable, and our nonprofit partners do too.

The good news is that you can use your human behavior to make a positive impact. From tending to native plants, to collecting litter, to working a shift at the recycling center, there are so many ways you can help our nonprofit partners who are working to keep Atlanta a sustainable place for all.

Join us today to support their work.

Greenspaces are more than a visual appealing part of our city’s landscape – they’re crucial to our existence. It’s simple: a healthy environment means healthy people. Our greenspaces are home to native plants and trees, which produce the oxygen we breathe and shelter the small creatures that keep our ecosystem in balance.

Greenspaces serve as gathering spots for community members, places where families can picnic and where children can attend meaningful programming. Parks, nature centers and public spaces are used daily by millions of Metro Atlantans, and unfortunately our normal human behavior leaves a negative impact on them. From trampled plants to pervasive litter to pollution, the natural systems struggle to succeed and will ultimately fail without our nourishment.
