Tips + Tricks

Start Early

Don’t wait. You’ve got the momentum right now as you’re reading this! Get your project posted so we can get people excited about serving!

Make the Ask

99% of people volunteer because someone asked them to. Keep it simple, genuine and just ask! Don’t forget to try texting, sending a quick message on Slack or your preferred messaging app.

Send a Calendar Invite

We typically do what our Outlook or Google calendar tells us to. It’s a miracle things get done that are not on there! Send calendar invites to people who show interest or who you’d like to volunteer with you.

Important DaYS

10 Days Out from Project

Please submit final headcount and volunteer totals to our team 10 days prior to your project! This will help ensure we have all the info needed for us, our partners and the community.

4 Days Out from Project

Why 4 days? It’s a great time to check in with your team, ensure participation or any cancellations from those who registered, while providing ample time to recruit folks to fill in any gaps if you lose people. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did!

The Day Before the Project

This is it, the final reminder! Include all of the project details, parking, driving directions, etc - answer all the potential questions in this email, including all the impact they’ll make and WHY their work is important.

Email + NEWSLETTER + CHAT

A perfect little blurb you can use to copy/paste and forward to volunteers or anyone you think that might want to get involved on the action! Consider sending 1 month out with reminders 2 weeks out and 1 week from your project. NOTE, bolded section is for you to edit. :)
