2020 has seen a global pandemic, divisive presidential election, growing Black Lives Matter movement, staggering nationwide unemployment, and an educational slump. On Sunday, Jan. 17, our MLK Sunday Supper, presented by Coca-Cola will virtually be delivered to dinner tables at homes across metro Atlanta, engaging as many people as we can around a conversation about race and social justice.

Join with the niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Angela Farris Watkins, for a very special reading of her book “Love Will See You Through.” The book shares Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s six principles of nonviolence in a language that children can understand. These principles of nonviolence are the pathway to creating the Beloved Community. Examples of the principles that one must embrace include that you “have courage” and “love your enemies.” These six hallmarks of virtue and nonviolence reinforce the truth that “the universe honors love” and will inspire readers of all ages.

The driving force behind each of Dr. King’s campaigns was his unique and unchanging vision for the world. Repeatedly, he spoke of triumphing over oppression and uniting humankind as one family. He referred to this communal ideal by many names, but most enduringly as the Beloved Community. The digital exhibition, We Share the Dream: King’s Beloved Community examines this ideal.
