Help preserve and protect a 125-acre forested city park nestled in Atlanta’s Cascade Heights neighborhood. Inside this old-growth forest, you will find unique plants and animals, a waterfall, three artesian springs, and 250-million-year-old rocks.​

Volunteer Activities Include:

  • Removal of invasive species​

  • Refinishing/painting picnic tables and benches​

  • Cleaning spring house​

  • Replacing broken bridge boards ​

  • Refinishing/painting existing boardwalk​

  • Trail maintenance & signage​

Camp Beautification

We have a partner who hosts an annual camp located in Mableton, Ga for hundreds of Metro Atlanta youth. The camp offers children a unique escape to experience fun, creative freedom and the beauty of the outdoors! They are looking for some help to improve several areas of the camp.

Volunteer activities for this project may include:

  • Sanding and priming of wooden railings around Dining Hall

  • Raking & bagging of leaves around the campground

  • Cleaning/trash pick up and upkeep of courtyard

  • Removal of broken coat racks on Dining Hall deck

  • Adding hook placements for campers to hang belongings

National High Five Day (third Thursday in April) is the perfect way to lean in and recognize the incredible work of our top volunteers at our High Five Party!

For more than 30 years, Hands On Atlanta has mobilized the community to take MLK Day on, honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will feature 100+ meaningful volunteer opportunities to help make his dream of the “beloved community” a reality.

In addition to the “day on” we also host one of Atlanta’s most anticipated social good events of the year, the MLK Sunday Supper. Now in it’s 11th year, this important evening will convene Atlanta leaders for an impactful program, followed by intimate and vulnerable table conversation facilicated by an Atlanta change maker.

According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, 1 out of 7 children live in a food insecure household, meaning they don’t know there their next meal will come from.

The Meals4Kids program aims to ensure that the students in Hands On Atlanta’s tutorial and enrichment programs don’t go hungry on the weekends. Meals4Kids serves students who qualify for free/reduced lunch and participate in Hands On Atlanta’s school-based programs, and their siblings. Volunteers will assemble bags of kid friendly nutritious items, like spaghetti noodles, tomato sauce, canned vegetables or fruit, tuna, granola bars, juice boxes, crackers, apple sauce.

In support of our nonprofit bike partner FB4K, the Bike Building Experience offers corporate groups the opportunity to support their mission and have fun while doing it. These events focus on how to work together as well as on building bikes for the community. No mechanical skills are necessary - only a willingness to come together around a common objective.

We’ll provide boxed bikes, required tools, delivery and pick up of bikes, and staff to coordinate event. Teams of 5 will build each bike, play trivia, ensure quality control and more!

According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, over 500,000 people in Metro Atlanta are food insecure, meaning they don’t know there their next meal will come from.

Our Mega Meal Pack option is a great opportunity for a company looking to go big and fight food insecurity in a major way! We partner with US Hunger to bring all the ingredients necessary to package the healthy meals, all supplies and tools including containers to hold the meal ingredients, meal bags and boxes, heat sealers, hairnets, hand sanitizer, and gloves. We’ll also help you the school/nonprofit to donate the meals to and handle delivery! You’ll choose your meal to pack, bring your volunteers and we’ll take care of the rest.

There are 300,000 children living in poverty in the metro Atlanta area. Government assistant programs like WIC SNAP don't allow for diaper or other healthcare purchases.

Hands On Atlanta's partner agencies include non-profits benefiting single parents, families in housing transitions, and homeless individuals, all in need of essential healthcare items. Volunteers will pack care kits for families, adults and children of all ages. Items to be packed will include items such as bath soap, lotion, toothbrush, wash cloth, feminine items, hand sanitizer, tooth paste and/or training pants.

It’s no secret, teachers across metro Atlanta are the unsung heroes responsible for developing the next generation. Their incredible efforts often go unnoticed, while they rise to the occasion to meet the growing needs of their students. Teachers regularly use personal funds, on an already tight budget, to purchase essential school items and necessary things to ensure their scholar success.

In this activity, volunteers will assemble support and preparedness kits that contain daily items used by students throughout the year - pens, pencils, markers, rulers, etc. Each teacher will receive a supply kit, as well as a class set of STEAM Kits for their students. Volunteers will also write notes of encouragement to students and teachers as well as assembling school specific needs.
